          Conductor, tenor, and violinist John Swedberg recently graduated with a master's degree in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College, where he studied conducting with Joe Miller, James Jordan, and Steve Pilkington. He completed his undergraduate studies at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA, where he studied conducting with Irving van Hooser. John has performed under the baton of conductors including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Gustavo Dudamel, Jaap van Zweden, Leonard Slatkin, and Peter Oundjian, at venues including New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Detroit's Orchestra Hall. Since the fall of 2019, John has been the junior high and high school choir director at Bethany Christian School in Troy, MI. He is thrilled for the opportunity to be conducting the TMSO and excited to collaborate with an organization that prizes both artistic excellence and a Christian focus.
